Message from Minister for Community Services and WACOSS President
Community service organisations play a vital role in supporting people experiencing vulnerability, creating meaningful change in the lives of children, young people and families across Western Australia. They are the connective tissue of our communities, helping people find strength, stability and hope in their hardest moments, often in ways that are unseen.
The Community Services Excellence Awards (CSEA) celebrate the unsung heroes of Western Australia and the organisations they represent. This includes the thousands of dedicated volunteers and the hard‑working, highly skilled workforce that underpins the sector every day. Together, they deliver critical services, from local grassroots initiatives to programs that operate across the State, making a profound difference to countless lives.
The awards span seven organisational and two individual categories, recognising those who are leading change and making a meaningful difference in their communities.
The awards provide an opportunity to recognise and honour these invaluable contributions. They are a longstanding and important collaboration between the Department of Communities and the Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS), reflecting a shared commitment to strengthen outcomes for Western Australians.
In 2027, we are pleased to again partner with the Council of Aboriginal Services Western Australia to deliver two award categories: Inspiring Partnership Between an Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation and a Community Service Organisation and Outstanding Aboriginal Organisation. Both recognise the strength, leadership and impact of Aboriginal organisations and the power of genuine, respectful partnerships.
Finalists and winners will be recognised at a ceremony on Monday 3 May 2027 — held alongside the WACOSS Conference — the largest gathering of the community services sector in Western Australia.
We look forward to your nominations and to celebrating the exceptional contribution of our State’s dynamic and innovative community services sector.
Thank you for all that you do.
Mark Glasson – President
Hon Matthew Swinbourn MLC – Minister for Community Services
